12 blue pencils with copying lead.

These are a blue pencil with a violet graphite that contains water-soluble ink. Originally used to transfer ink to other papers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries prior to carbon copying. These may be the only copying pencils still in production!

This set is a reissue of Viarco’s iconic pencils from the 1940s to 1960s, thoughtfully recreated to honor the brand’s legacy. These timeless writing tools reflect the simplicity and craftsmanship that embody both Viarco’s heritage and Portugal’s industrial identity.

About Viarco: Founded in 1936, Viarco is Portugal’s oldest and only pencil manufacturer, with roots tracing back to 1907 when Faria, Cacheux & Cª—also known as Portugália—first introduced pencil production to the country. Acquired in 1931 by Manoel Vieira Araújo, a prominent industrialist from S. João da Madeira, the factory was revitalized and rebranded as Viarco. Through decades of innovation and craftsmanship, Viarco has continued to produce high-quality writing instruments that celebrate Portugal’s rich industrial heritage.
