Lily of the Valley joins Scribble & Daub's Language of Flowers card collection which illustrate the symbolism and sentiment behind particular blooms. Adorned with a floriferous scribble on the front, the meaning is elegantly explained on the reverse.

"Lily of the Valley is the official flower for the month of May. Native to the Northern Hemisphere, this woodland plant has sweet scented sprays of white, bell-shaped flowers. Though part of the asparagus family, it is very definitely not edible and despite its prettiness, is in fact poisonous. A symbol of love, luck, prosperity & happiness, it is a popular bridal flower - as chosen by Audrey Hepburn - and in ancient times was associated with humility and the Spring goddess Ostara. The favourite flower of fashion designer Christian Dior, his florist grew Lily of the Valley in greenhouses all year round so the highly superstitious couturier would never be without a sprig of this good luck charm on his lapel; at his shows he even had the flowers sewn into the hems of dresses for their perfume."

All Scribble & Daub cards are traditionally letterpress-printed from original dip pen and ink drawings and then individually hand-painted with Andy Warhol's favourite inks on luxurious Italian deckle-edged cards with matching envelopes.

Card measures 8.5 x 13 cm
